PMU removal

Permanent makeup (PMU) can change over time, lose its shape, fade into unwanted shades, or simply stop matching the current look. In recent years, our center has been increasingly seeing clients who come to us with the desire to remove old or unsuccessful PMU, often performed in other salons. The reasons are various – from aesthetic dissatisfaction to the wrong color to health complications.

When is removal necessary?

If the skin is saturated with pigment to the point that it is no longer possible to perform a cover-up (a new application of PMU) – or the original pigment would show through – it is first necessary to lighten the original color or completely remove it. In these cases, the laser method comes into play, which is currently the gentlest and most effective way to correct or completely remove PMU.

How does it work?

At NOTATTOO ZONE we work with the most modern picosecond lasers, which allow precise intervention in fine skin structures, for example in the area of eyebrows, eyeliner or lips. Thanks to extremely short pulses, the energy is targeted precisely at the pigment without damaging the surrounding tissue.

The laser breaks the pigment molecules into microparticles that the body naturally eliminates through the lymphatic system. The entire process is gentle, safe and does not cause scars or changes in skin texture – which is especially important when working on the face.

How many sessions are needed?

The number of treatments varies depending on several factors:

• the amount of pigment in the skin
• the color of the pigment used (e.g. yellow, green or orange shades are more difficult to remove)
• age and depth of PMU application
• individual skin and lymphatic system reactions

In practice, 1 to 4 treatments are most common, always with an interval of 6 to 8 weeks between individual procedures. If the goal is only to lighten before a new application of PMU, 1-3 sessions are usually sufficient. For complete removal, the procedure may need to be repeated several times.

Safety and comfort

Thanks to the use of a cryo device for cooling the skin, the procedure is minimally painful. Clients compare the feeling of removal to a scratch or a gentle “snapping“ with a rubber band.
In sensitive areas – for example, around the eyeliner – we ensure maximum client protection using special eye shields and precise pulse guidance.
