Finding the most effective way to remove unwanted tattoos or permanent makeup has been the goal of many specialized companies and experts around the world for many years. Currently, the best system is both the nanosecond Q switch Nd. YAG laser and its more advanced version, the picosecond laser. The Tattoo Zone laser center in Krnov has these devices.
Ivo Výboch:
“Many years ago, I noticed an increased interest from clients who were dissatisfied with their tattoos for various reasons and started thinking about redoing or covering them up. This method did not always seem to be the best. The tattoo usually had to darken significantly.
As tattoo artists, we started testing various chemical methods of tattoo removal&ndquo; with various “removers” , but they were not effective.
That's why I decided to equip my studio with a tattoo removal laser.
I have sixteen years of experience with this technology, having replaced several nanosecond Q switch lasers.“
HOW A NEODYMIUM LASER WORKS:
To understand the principle of how a laser works, we first need to understand the principle of the tattoo itself.
When applying a tattoo and PMU, the pigment is introduced with a needle into a specific layer of the skin - the dermis. The body considers this pigment to be a foreign substance, but is unable to get rid of it naturally. The molecules of tattoo and PMU colors are simply too large for this. The body then reacts by wrapping the pigment with collagen, thereby fixing it in the skin.
As tattoos and PMUs have become increasingly popular, the need to modify or completely remove them has logically increased. Q switch lasers are considered by dermatologists to be the most effective and safest way to remove tattoos and PMUs. They do not cause burns, hypopigmentation, or scarring of the tissue.
The Q-Switch Nd YAG laser is an intelligent non-invasive laser device that generates high-intensity light pulses. Each pulse lasts just a billionth of a second (nanosecond laser) and one trillionth of a second for a picosecond laser. This is a process where photoacoustic and thermal energy is directed at the pigments, which are then broken down into microparticles. These broken particles are then naturally eliminated by the lymphatic system of the human body. This process usually takes 6 to 8 weeks, during which the tattoo gradually fades.
Lasers work in different wavelengths and frequencies. Each of them is designed for a different color and layer (depth) of the skin. For example, black and other dark pigments are best removed because they respond to all wavelengths.
NUMBER OF SESSIONS, CONTRAINDICATIONS, PAIN, CARE
Ivo Výboch:
The number of sessions depends on many factors.
“For complete tattoo removal, we expect 5 to 10 procedures, but it can be more than 10, or even less than 5. If If the existing tattoo only needs to be lightened because it is covered by a new tattoo, 3 to 5 treatments will probably be enough.”
It depends on the age and health of the client, the skin type, age and location of the tattoo, as well as how well the tattoo is done and what pigment it is made with. Older (10 years or more) and amateur tattoos with poor quality ink are best removed.
The tattoo is removed in layers. Therefore, many more sessions are needed to remove saturated areas or contours than to remove areas that are only lightly shaded. The pigment is absorbed much better in areas that are more blood-rich. Removing a tattoo on your fingers or toes will therefore take longer than, say, your chest.
Ivo Výboch:
“I don't want it to sound like a cliché, but clients who lead a healthy lifestyle are at an advantage. An immune system that is not burdened by various toxins, such as alcohol and nicotine, then works properly and can fully devote itself to the broken down pigment. I therefore recommend that my clients get enough exercise and sleep, drink plenty of fluids and lightly massage the lasered area at least twice a day“
As for the pain, it is most often compared to the pain of the tattoo itself. However, it can be significantly reduced by cooling with ice-cold air (-20°C to -30°C) or a cooling gel. Perceiving laser pulses can be compared to “shooting a rubber band through the skin.”
PERMANENT MAKE-UP REMOVAL
Do you want to help your clients?
“In our practice, we increasingly encounter clients who need help with unsuccessful PMU from other salons or who are eager for a change and want to have their older PMU corrected with a so-called cover-up.
If the skin is saturated with pigment to the point that there is no room for new pigment or the existing pigment would show through, it is necessary to use a laser to lighten or completely remove the PMU.”
How many treatments are needed?
“It is very individual, usually 1 to 4 sessions after 6-8 weeks, it also depends on many other factors, just like with the removal of a classic tattoo”
Conclusion - Ivo Výboch:
“In my many years of practice as a tattoo artist, I have seen a lot. Failed tattoos, failed alterations and permanent make-up. We have been working with lasers for 17 years and have gained a lot of experience during this time. If you need our help or want to help your clients, you can use our free consultation“
