Finding the most effective way to remove tattoos or permanent makeup has been the goal of many specialized companies and experts around the world for many years. Currently, the best solution is both the nanosecond Q switch Nd. YAG laser and its related version, the picosecond laser. Laser center Tattoo Zone in Krnov has these devices. Although the fashion for tattoos and permanent makeup continues, there are still clients who have had enough of it and want to remove it. Many believe that it is not possible, that such a process will leave scars, burns, hypo- or hyperpigmentation. These are unnecessary concerns. When choosing the right method, there is no such danger.
Fifteen years of experience
„Many years ago, I noticed an increased interest from clients who were unsatisfied with their tattoo for various reasons and started to think about remaking or covering it. This method did not always seem to be the best. The tattoo usually had to darken significantly,“says Ivo Výboch from the Tattoo Zone Laser Center in Krnov. „As tattoo artists, we started testing various chemical methods of tattoo removal with various 'removers,' but these methods were not effective. That is why I decided to equip my studio with a tattoo removal laser. I have fifteen years of experience with this technology, having replaced several nanosecond Q switch lasers.“
In order to understand the principle of the laser, it is first necessary to understand the principle of tattooing itself. “When applying a tattoo and PMU, the pigment is introduced into the dermis with a needle. The body considers this pigment to be a foreign substance, but is unable to get rid of it naturally. The molecules of tattoo and PMU colors are simply too large for this. The body then reacts by wrapping the pigment with collagen and thereby fixing it in the skin,“ explains Ivo Výboch.
The principle of laser operation
The Q-Switch nanosecond Nd YAG laser is an intelligent non-invasive laser device that generates highly intense light pulses. Each pulse lasts just a billionth of a second. This is a process where photoacoustic and thermal energy is directed at pigments, which are broken down into microparticles. The broken particles are then naturally eliminated from the human body by the lymphatic system. This process usually takes 6 to 8 weeks, during which the tattoo gradually fades. Lasers work at different wavelengths and frequencies. Each of them is designed for a different color and layer of skin. For example, black and other dark pigments are best removed because they react to all wavelengths.
Removal of permanent makeup
“In our practice, we increasingly encounter clients who need help with unsuccessful permanent makeup from other salons or who are eager for a change and want to have their older PMU corrected with a so-called cover-up,“ says Markéta Tichavská from the In Visage beauty salon in Krnov. “If the skin is saturated with pigment so much that there is no place for new pigment or the existing would show through, it is necessary to lighten or completely remove the PMU. The number of treatments is individual, usually 1 to 4 sessions after 6–8 weeks, it also depends on many other factors, just like the removal of classic tattoos.–
